We are 3-D

Who are you? Or rather what are you? What makes up this person you are? This homogeneous creation of Allah, comprised of more than the eye can see or the mind can perceive yet contained in a single vessel. But despite what the eye can see or the mind can perceive, there is more behind the walls of the unseen. What the eye sees is more than just that, it’s the mind that perceives and judges, the one that composes personas categorizing them in spaces our mind creates, dressing them in characters of our thoughts’ façade, connecting and storing their memory in cognizance to our emotions.

3-Dimensional, a term for the new age for the discretion of dimensions and yet using those same words I can present you with a glimpse into us. The body, the mind and the spirit, our three dimensions. We quite easily grasp what the mind and body is and what it entails, yet just as easily we overlook the last but most significant part that comprises us, the spirit. We seek to obtain judgement from both or either of our aspects but choose to be uninformed about our last. Why does that occur though, have you ever thought? Why is metaphysics so insignificant to us?
In theory perhaps, one faces difficulty in accepting things that are incomprehensible. As is the holistic comprehension of spirituality. One can see the tangible, and witness the intelligence but one fails in connecting to the spiritual being entirely oblivious to the fact that much of us is spiritual. Our emotions, our character, our principles all has link with our spirituality, none of any have presence in proof yet are collective in the entire existence.

What attention calls for is to bring to the forefront the fact that if uninformed about our soul we shall remain devoid of the greatest occupation of our being. Examining an instance of a 2-D persona reveals the following. Our bodily needs initiate from nourishment, shelter and clothing; our mental needs comprise of comprehension of use and execution and further. Our mental sphere facilitates the manner of accomplishment and execution and our physical sphere requires attention for survival. An accomplished person in just these two spheres would be drawn thus, ‘An intelligent, well nourished and healthy individual’. None of the above would grant emotional  fulfillment if the spiritual facet wouldn’t be, but it does grant a feeling of happiness and fulfillment therefore our spiritual aspect has greater possession of us. What we should realize is that our spiritual face colors majority of us; our values, principles, ethics, aesthetics which would have no existence if not for our spirituality.

An additional emphasis is that each sphere of our being has an effect on the other. Take in retrospect the state of being emotionally bothered and during that state of unease being confronted with dire decisions. We would never be able to do that solution justice. With our emotional sphere colliding with our mental, neither of either would function properly. The reason being so is because of our cohesive order. We are structured in all aspects as a cohesive being built with an array of components. Thus, like a well-oiled machine, if any of our element is out of order, it would most definitely impact the other. It is impossible to place any of our 3 components as secular

Another rising realization is that value lies in wealth of character rather than wealth of possessions. Character stems from our spirituality and is built upon manners, virtues and morality. It is no cringe worthy conversation in today’s modern society. The only absence in today’s philosophy of empowering the body, the mind is empowering the soul. Empowerment of the soul is a mighty weapon and armor. It not only shields from immorality but also encounters and abolishes the roots of them. Empowering the soul is the strongest intellect you can possess. Empowering your spirituality has a direct correlation to your heart, emotions and demeanor. It is the essence of the true value we receive as beings. Development of spiritual cognizance makes one constantly conscious of their acts and words. The greater good one reaps from it is protecting people in your company from the ill that immorality could afflict.

The above is an abridged mention of the monumental subject under observation. There are many paths to explore in the context of  this scape. Recognizing our spiritual sphere is just an initiation as realization is the first step to any process. In this aspect it is an entrance towards the realization of a lot of other things that are left in between the distance.

The Love and Mercy of Allah

Bismillah Hirahmaan Nirraheem. In the Name of Allah The Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

In a hadith Qudsi, Allah (‘Azza wa Jalla) says:
O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind.
O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you and I would not mind.
O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.”

Can one measure the love Allah has for us? The love and mercy He has bestowed upon us? That no matter how many sins we commit HIS mercy will always be upon us. That no matter how bad we do, we will always have HIM to forgive us.

Allah’s word brings us at peace. We are human, we err, we sin, we try and try but often fail again. Allah Azz’ zawa jal loves those who strive to walk the righteous path. HE loves those who fall but stand up again in shame realizing their mistake. He loves those who believe in HIM to be the One True Deity. Those who look up to Him with recognition of their Lord, knowing HE will always be there for them.

Us as people, when we commit a sin and realize our mistake, we look for someone whom we can confide in and apologize to. To be free of the burden we carry of our transgressions. We run to find peace of heart from the guilt and shame in our hearts. We run to those whom we know will listen to us, will support us and will be there for us, generally speaking it being our parents or spouses. But if one realizes that they too are human and that they may not be always there for us. They might not forgive us for a wrong doing; they may not always be with us through our lives to be a comfort to lean against; or they may unintentionally hurt us.

Allah, only Allah will always be there for us. No matter how bad we are, how many sins we commit, how damned and undeserving we believe our selves to be; but that one belief of Allah… that will be our light. It will be our guide, our help. Allah will never give up on us, Allah will always give us a chance. It is up to us to take that second chance and stand up. Stand up and please HE who created us, HE who has promised to always be there for us, HE who says that despite HIS anger HIS mercy will always be Greater. We should use the tongue HE created to praise HIM, the body HE gave us to prostrate to HIM, the eyes HE gave us to cry for HIM.

Allah will always do everything for us, why don’t we spend our lives doing everything for HIM. Our Lord, our Creator, our Provider, our Sustainer. You will NEVER find yourself alone, you will always have Allah. Allah is our One True Strength, our Comfort and our Security.

Allah, our Lord, our Maula. HIS mercy prevails and HIS support will never deter, HE will always be there for you HE will always forgive you if you come to HIM with a true heart and repentance. HE will always be there for you. Believe in Allah and Trust in Him. When you have no where to go, you always have a  way back to Allah. HE will always find a way to bless us with HIS mercy.

Reported by Ibn Umar (RA): I heard Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, “A believer will be brought close to his Rubb on the Day of Resurrection and enveloping him in His Mercy, He (SWT) will make him confess his sins by saying: `Do you remember (doing) this sin and this sin?’ He will reply: My Rubb, I remember.’ Then He (SWT) will say: I covered it up for you in the life of world, and I forgive it for you today. Then the record of his good deeds will be handed to him”.

How do you define Virtual Networking / Socialism?

I was asked this question on formspring quite a while ago and thought it would be good for both you and me if I shared it. Your feedback and comments will be appreciated. I could have written more but time has locked me. Hope to hear from you —— How do you define Virtual Networking / Socialism? Is it good for us? What will be the side effects / impacts on our real life? Brief description / definition will be appreciated. Social Networking is a platform to communicate with people globally. Sometimes in the real world connecting to other people is more of a challenge unless you are that jolly and extrovert type. To be able to approach people, have a conversation, find each other’s similarities is not as easy. Social networking has made all that easier, the reasons why is something I think about often. Maybe its easier for people to chat up without feeling weird or perhaps they like the shield that the the screen gives them. They can choose to be themselves or someone else, either way, they communicate and connect. Considering if its good for us, everything in this world has pros and cons similarly so does social networking. Social networking is platform to globally connect, to be able to see beyond differences, to find people with the same interests. Other than that it provides better communication and connection for businesses too but lets not get into that. The cons however i believe are greater. Since we sit behind a shield we do not know if the person we are talking to is who we think he/she is. We believe what they make us believe, we trust them for who the pose to be. Trust without thought leads to many problems even in the real world and through social networking it is a greater problem one that leads to fraud, deception etc. Now to see this in the light of Islam, Islam has asked to refrain from communicating with the opposite gender unless necessary. Talking about reasons why is another topic altogether. Also Talking a lot isn’t much preferred, as [1] The Prophet advised us in a hadith related by at-Tirmidhiyy: which means: “The one who adheres to the lengthy silence (except from that which is good) will be saved on the Day of Judgment.” In the hadith related by al-Bayhaqiyy, the Prophet said: which means: “You shall be saved as long as you are silent, for if you speak, it will either be in your favor or stand against you.”  [1] An interpretation of a hadith related by al-Bayhaqiyy, the Prophet said: “You shall be saved as long as you are silent, for if you speak, it will either be in your favor or stand against you.” [1] Another interpretation by Ibn Abid-Dunyia related the Prophet, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, said: which means: “One can greatly beautify himself with two habits–good manners and lengthy silence.] That is so because talking and communicating a lot lead to gossip, and gossip is one of the major sins in Islam. Once we begin talking we don’t think twice about what we are saying or who we are talking about and social networking is the HUB of all that. Ergo, social networking is majorly wrong in Islam than right. We can use it for good purposes such as spread knowledge about Islam, give Dawah, help Muslims etc but we often use it for personal purposes such as talk to friends, gossip, make new contacts all among whom we communicate with the opposite gender, become friends etc. in conclusion the cons outweigh the pros. Lastly, how it impacts our real life, for me there are no pros about it. We have become lazy, stopped socializing and spending time in the real world, are not able to give as much time to family and friends around us as we should, are more keen on knowing and talking to the people online, indulge in pointless gossips etc. Social Networking is a means of communication and carries good and bad both. If one is on social networks, its best to set limits for ones self and remain within the boundaries of Islam firstly and then your own. If I have been a part of anything that has caused me to backbite or do or say wrong, May Allah forgive me. May Allah forgive us all, May HE Guide us on the righteous path and utilize our means of communication and technology in a more productive way to benefit ourselves and Islam.  Wrong doings are never far behind, they chase you and tempt you. One should keep strong and fight them off, purify ones self and influence others for the best Refrences 1. http://www.alsunna.org/forum/index.php?topic=63.0 (This could have been longer, but whatever 15 minutes allowed me :P) —— Link to question: http://www.formspring.me/mariayousuf/q/280248208158898083

A Muslim’s Faith

People question “Which sect should we follow?” “Which Imam is right?” . They say “Everyone is teaching their own Islam” “Everyone has their own dogmas”. Following Islam is summed up in the following Hadith.

One day while the Prophet was sitting in the company of some people, (The angel) Gabriel came and asked “What is faith?”

Allah’s Apostle replied, ‘Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, (the) meeting with Him, His Apostles, and to believe in Resurrection.”

Then he further asked, “What is Islam?”

Allah’s Apostle replied, “To worship Allah Alone and none else, to offer prayers perfectly to pay the compulsory charity (Zakat) and to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan.”

Then he further asked, “What is Ihsan (perfection)?”

Allah’s Apostle replied, “To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot achieve this state of devotion then you must consider that He is looking at you.”

Then he further asked, “When will the Hour be established?” Allah’s Apostle replied, “The answerer has no better knowledge than the questioner. But I will inform you about its portents.

1. When a slave (lady) gives birth to her master.

2. When the shepherds of black camels start boasting and competing with others in the construction of higher buildings. And the Hour is one of five things which nobody knows except Allah.

The Prophet then recited: “Verily, with Allah (Alone) is the knowledge of the Hour–.” (31. 34)

Then that man (Gabriel) left and the Prophet asked his companions to call him back, but they could not see him. Then the Prophet said, “That was Gabriel who came to teach the people their religion.” Abu ‘Abdullah said: He (the Prophet) considered all that as a part of faith.

Hijab, Oppression and Women…

I had a conversation with a Tweeple in relation to wearing the Hijab. I shall post the dialogue and shall further state my point of view.

Conversation:

Me: People say Muslim women are oppressed because they are covered. You never know how safe and secure they feel… [1]

Him: Thats exactly why they say women are oppressed. Finding the feeling of safety by hiding ones self is called oppression!! [2]

Me: LOL say what? so walking around half naked is freedom? [3]

Him: first thing, let’s stick to the issue at hand! Having to hide to feel “protected” is being oppressed !! [4]

Me: Lets discuss this! i feel secure when im in an abaya and hijab when men dont gawk at me, when a women walks without protection men savor her every curve, they strip her of ANY respect she may have…as far as what oppression goes, u could at least google the definition [5]

Him: u shouldn’t feel the need to dress a certain way to feel protected. If you do, you’re oppressed! [6]

Me: u do realize what u r saying hold men responsible dont u? [7]

Him: Yes! Men are oppressing the women by not being “muslims” & keeping parda on their eyes, & forcing women to cover! [8]

This is my answer to his last tweet:

The former part of this tweet holds true but in a different context, the latter is preposterous! Women who understand the purpose and good of wearing the Hijab are never forced, they consider Hijab as a blessing. I’ll now talk about the former.

Men are not being Muslims you say, first off that is ill stated; they are not following the Islamic rules. HOW? It is not by forcing women to cover but by Staring! In Islam men are asked to LOWER THEIR GAZE. Not gawk at females or stare at them. And to be totally open and honest, men like staring at women’s bodies, I hope u don’t go and deny that. They visually strip women of respect when they stare with lust. If you go and say not all men are like that it is a fact that MOST men are. It is human NATURE to do so, thus we are asked to NOT look so that it doesn’t follow up to other sins.

THAT is the oppression; they stare and rip women of purity and modesty. The parda u talk about is liberalism, you should remove that curtain and realize the spiritual affects Islamic rulings have. In addition to that women ARE asked to cover up in Islam. You can find that in the Quran.

1.      Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: And Allah is well acquainted with all that they do. – Light [24:30] [9]

2.      And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband’s fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss.- Light [24:31] [10]

3.      O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.- The Coalition [33:59] [11]

4.      Such elderly women as are past the prospect of marriage,- there is no blame on them if they lay aside their (outer) garments, provided they make not a wanton display of their beauty: but it is best for them to be modest: and Allah is One Who sees and knows all things. – Light [24:60] [12]

I would now like to state other relating thoughts. Why is it that when women cover themselves, their modesty and their respect do people think they are being oppressed? Why don’t they object against half naked women? Is it not offensive to their sights? Is it not immodesty and disrespect in plain view? How is that all acceptable? Is nudity freedom of expression?

If they say so then they should know that “Freedom Of Expression” ALSO includes the Freedom of wearing HIJAB!

Cannibals, How many are there Among us?

Recently the most shocking, repulsive and  unfathomable act was reported. Cannibalism in Pakistan.

Two brothers had been arrested on cannibalism. they had been digging up corpses and cooking human flesh into stew. Unbelievable isn’t it? WHO in their right minds would eat HUMAN FLESH?! NO ONE who is SANE would ever cut up a dead body and eat that human flesh, No body.

But wait are you sure? What if I say that you are one of them? Those people who would eat the flesh of a dead brother. You would definitely get enraged wouldn’t you? Start yelling at me or calling me names. But yo know what? I would still stnad by what I say. I’m sure you would want to know why I blame you of such a heinous act. So I shall tell you…

The truth is that people commit the crime of eat their dead brothers flesh almost everyday. How you ask? By backbiting and slandering. Backbiting and slandering are among the greatest of sins. They have been forbidden and equal to cannibalism. It has been clearly stated in the Quran.

O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion, in deeds some suspicions are sins. And spy not neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear God, verily, God is the one who accepts repentance, Most Merciful. (49: 12)

Those of you who do not consider it a great sin, or do not realize it as a great sin, ALLAAH has warned you for your inifference towards it

Behold, you received it on your tongues, and said out of your mouths things which you had no knowledge; and you thought it to be a light matter, while it was most serious in the sight of God (24: 15)

Those people who dont backbite or slander BUT are there in the company of those who do. You are asked to speak up against it! for silence is the lowest form of Emaan

And why did you not, when you heard it, say? “It is not right of us to speak of this: Glory to God, this is a most serious slander” (24:16)

Backbiting and Slander are Shaitan’s works. He wants you to use your tongue for the worst and to create misunderstandings and conflicts. Beware of him because he is your avowed enemy.

Say to My servants that they should only say those things that are best, for Satan does sow dissensions among them, for Satan is to man an avowed enemy. (17:53)

Here is the definition of Backbiting and Slander in a Hadith…

Prophet Muhammad  said :”Do you know what backbiting is?” They said, “God and His Messenger know best.” He then said, “It is to say something about your brother that he would dislike.” Someone asked him, “But what if what I say is true?” The Messenger of God  said, “If what you say about him is true, you are backbiting him, but if it is not true then you have slandered him.” (Muslim)

So dear brother ans sisters be careful of what you say and how you speak. The act you consider revolting and heinous could also be among the acts you commit unknown. The Quran and Hadith speak the truth in all matters as we all believe being Muslims. We can not take th matter of backbiting and slander lightly. You may not realize the weight of that sin.You may not be able weigh your words or believe that which is spoken is lost. You are a fool to think such for no word ever leaves the room or vanishes and even if no one else heard, know that ALLAAH heard.

If people realize that they shouldnt backbite or slander and decide to hurt others on their faces then know that that too is wrong!

O ye who believe! let not some men among you laugh at others: it may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women laugh at others: it may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those who do not desist are (Indeed) doing wrong. (Surah: Al-Hujurat Ayat: 11)
